Morning After Mules: The Ultimate Guide to Hangover Relief

There’s nothing more fun than getting together with your friends, having a night out, and indulging in a few of your favorite cocktails--well, at least until the next morning when you realize you may have consumed one too many. 

You know what we’re talking about...the dreaded hangover.

Hey, it happens to the best of us, and there’s certainly no worse feeling than having hangover side effects that include:

  • Headaches
  • Dizziness
  • Lethargy and fatigue
  • Muscle aches and pains
  • Concentration problems
  • Eyesight disturbances
  • Poor memory
  • Gastrointestinal upsets: diarrhea, discomfort, flatulence, vomiting
  • Loss of hunger
  • Nausea
  • Excess Sweating
  • Depression and anxiety

As liquor lovers ourselves, we don’t want anyone to have to suffer the consequences of a night filled with a little too much fun.

And while we can’t actually prevent a hangover from occurring after drinking too much, we do know a thing or two about hangover relief.

The best way to avoid a hangover is to avoid overconsuming alcohol in the first place.

If you are drinking, be sure to drink on a full stomach and keep well hydrated.

If you wake up the next morning and still find yourself suffering from a hangover, we recommend mixing up the following alcohol-free cocktails to help ease your hangover symptoms and recover quickly!

Lemon Honey Water

Ingredients

  • Lemon –1-2
  • Warm water – 1 glass
  • Honey – 1 tbsp.

  • Instructions

    1. Warm up 1 glass full of water.
    2. Squeeze the juice of 1-2 lemons into the water.
    3. Add 1 tbsp. of honey to the water.
    4. Drink.

    Hydration is super important after a night of drinking. The main ingredient in this recipe--water--will help rehydrate your body, helping you to recover faster.

    Lemon is also an essential ingredient. Lemon rebalances the body by changing the pH level and regulates the level of blood sugar. For that reason, it helps provide relief from some of the hangover symptoms like dizziness and being sensitive to light and sound. It also heals muscular pain.

    Ginger Lemon Orange Juice

    Ingredients

    • Ginger – 2-inch piece
    • Water  – 4 cups
    • Orange juice – 1 cup
    • Honey – 4 tbsp.
    • Lemon juice – 1 tbsp.

    Directions

    1. In a container, combine 4 cups of water, 1 cup of orange juice, 4 tbsp. honey, 1 tbsp. Lemon juice , and a two-inch slice of ginger root.
    2. Let mixture sit for an hour or longer so the ingredients can mix.
    3. Drink.

    Hot Peppermint Water

    Ingredients

    • Peppermint leaves –1 tbsp.
    • Hot water2 cups

    Directions

    1. Boil 2 cups of water.
    2. Add 1 tbsp. of peppermint leaves into water.
    3. Let steep for 5 minutes.
    4. Drink.

    Tomato Juice

    Ingredients

    • Tomatoes – 4-5
    • Lemon juice – 1 tbsp.
    • Honey – 1 tbsp.
    • Cayenne pepper –½ tsp. (optional)

    Directions:

    1. In a juicer, juice 4-5 tomatoes.
    2. Add lemon juice,honey, and cayenne pepper to the tomato juice.
    3. Mix.
    4. Drink.
